> P800 "White Screen" - Stupidly Changed Facia!
Bookmark topic
Hi there,
I recently brought a P800 but the facia was in a pretty poor state so I thought I would change it. How hard could it be really?!
So, I took it apart and put it back together but now when I turn it on I get 2 vibrates and a white screen!!
I don't think the motherboard is knackered as the blue light at the top flashes.
Please help me fix my phone!
Thanks

The most likely fault is that the ribbon cable that goes from the main board to the screen isnt in properly or damaged. Have a look.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
The cable looks fine. It doesn't look damaged or anything

??
Think if I buy a new one of them it'll fix my problem?
I saw a faulty P800 on eBay and the guy had the same problem as me and said it might be a software/firmware problem?
Don't know if that's true or any help in answering my question

I doubt it is software if it worked fine before changing the cover. Cant think of any other solutions at the minute. If I think of anything I will let you know.

Hmmm. . . . . Did you try the old bad facia back on to see if it is working fine with it? Sometimes non oem facia's are troublesome.

well it sounds like a software a problem although it is a little strange that this happend after the change.....
i would probably take my phone to a reflash, i mean you can't loose anything it's free anyway....

dontm be silly how could it be a software problem it is something of a direct result of the phone being dismantled i agree with the other guy make sure the screen connecter is pressed in properly wen i replaced the screen on my old p800 i had problems cos i needed to clean the contacts (blow ne dust off) and make sure youve connected it right, it maybe that the backlight is connected and not the data pins correctly hence the white screen, also take note that most of the contacts to the external periferials require that the casing must be properly screwed together. visit my repair guide website if it may help you
http://pseries.worm.me.uk/ hope this helps, p.s. as an electronic engineer we find sometimes its helps to take something apart and put it back together again if its not working! worth a try

Maybe, something gets pinched in. Shut it slowly and peek to check.

Thanks for the replies.
Further to your advice - I took everything apart again and tried it without the facia (i.e. connected it with just the board, screen and battery) and it still is just white screen.
When you say "reflash" what does that mean?
