Ok this week i managed to wake up in the night feelin thirsty. I reached down the side of the bed to grab my glass of water. But in the confusion of darkness i managed to tug on the charger lead of my nokia 3230(which was on charge on my bedside cabinet). The phone, with charger still attached to it, fell straight into my glass of water. Base first, covering the whole of the keypad, but not as far as the display!!! Obviously i got it out of the water as soon as i realised what happened.
The phone had switched it's self off. I took out the battery, mmc and sim and left it on the window sill to dry.
Next morning i gave it a good blow out with a hairdryer left it a few more hours. Finally i plucked up the courage to try and turn it back on. I pressed the power switch and on it came. OK, the first couple of minutes the display was a bit flickery but all seemed fine... Or so i thought. I've now realised that whenever i press the "#" key it registers that i've pressed the "7" key!!?? No more will the shift key work!! Bugger!!
Has anyone ever seen something like this before? Is it worth taking the phone apart and cleaning it or have i blown something inside and i'll be wasting my time?
The phone is insured so i'll probably just make a claim either way so this one will be up for sale shortly, either as water damaged spares or repairs or fully working(but previously water damaged). But any advice is welcomed!

Yeah thanks guys. I think i'll have a bit of a play with it tonight in work... I'm still puzzled tho as to why the shift key has suddenly becomce the 7 key??

Does your insurance cover "tampering by the user " ?? Be careful what you do cause they might use "tampering" as an excuse for not fulfulling your insurance claim....
of course if you can take it apart without leaving any marks or the insurance guys dont inspect the phone, you're safe

dont be doing that!!
honest is the best policy! and doing that could land you with some years behind bars!!!
its normally fudged the PCB if its been in water, but take it apart just in case. my best advice is to use a toothbrush and brush the whole of the PCB, and the back of the keypad as you will see that its gotten kinda rusty??
and thn put it all back together and you should be away!

well ive never seen a water damaged case be turned down by Orange.
and yes you will void your insurance if you take it to bits!!
