Goodbye Bluetorch, meet:

It's powered by a single LUXEON emitter. Very bright!

Looks nice!

If i could hazzard a guess i'd say the connector is an OEM charger port, and where the light emits was where the cable was. If its home made, can u supply us with schematics/plans?

Theirs also this available from brando Brando Mobile Torch LED is a thin attachment stick to the back of your mobile phone. It has 2 LED lights in front to give sufficient light whenever you need. The addon uses its own power source and the battery lifetime is about 20 hours

Very keen! Yep I salvaged the connector from a car charger.

The LED is made by LUXEON (www.luxeon.com). These are the brightest LEDs you can find. Much much brighter than traditional "super bright" LEDs.

I simply used a 10ohm resistor for current limiting. Due to size constraints I couldn't use a large heatsink which would've allowed the higher currents for much brighter light. For thermal management I used an L-shaped aluminum with one side epoxy bonded to the plastic housing and the other thermally attached to the luxeon's back slug via Thermagon T-grease 2500 (thermal grease). The plastic housing does heat up a bit when used continuously.

I also attached a collimator lens to focus the beam:

Yep I made it just today.

Here's the comparison with a penlight incandescent bulb flashlight (left) and my luxeon attachment (right):

The luxeon is so bright it makes the text unreadable...
