Hey guys, need some help here, hopefully this is a problem that can be fixed

I have a V800 flashed to Z800 R1X031 firmware. The problem is the phone goes from full bars to no bars with the flip closed. I was wondering why my phone has been silent in the past few hours so I looked at the external LCD and there's no GPRS and no signal. I open the flip and signal comes back to within like three seconds and GPRS goes full a few seconds after. Anyone have had this problem, anyone figure out how to fix it? It's not very comfortable having the phone with the flip open in my pocket, I'm being sarcastic of course. Any help on this would be great. PLEASE! Thanks

It might be the ariel that is bust and the connectors only touch when the phone is open but when close they probably strectch to far apart to get a signal.

Would that be difficult to fix? To be honest I have no idea what an ariel is, could you please explain to me what that is? Thanks for the reply please get back to me

An aerial is better know as an antenna you know like your tv has one etc..I thinking trying to repair that is going to be a mission best bet is take it to a service centre.

Service Center? Thanks for the help by the way. I live in the States and there is no Service Center in Houston, or Texas. I'm almost sure there isn't one in this whole country. Really sucks that SE isn't as big here as it is in other countries. Thanks for the help

Was the phone doing that before you flashed it to R1X? if not then maybe reflash it to R1Y..and see if that makes a difference.

How about flash it back to V800 then see if it still occur.

Did it happen after you flashed it with new FW. Might have something to do with that.

Well, I found the problem. I post on a few other forums and someone replied to my post. He said it was the RF Modulator that was going out on his phone when his started doing the same thing. he also mentioned that only one other person that he knows of that has had this happen to their V800. I'm thinkin it's sorta like the No Network problem on the T39M. The problem is just getting worse, it still gets full signal on the initial opening of the flip, but there have been times where I won't get a network at all! The cost of this repair is 145.00. I normally would have just said screw it, but I paid close to 500.00 for the phone, and if I was to get another phone to replace it, it would be another V800/Z800, so I actually am saving money by just getting it fixed. I'm waiting on the guy to get his phone back, should be early next week before I send mine out, just to make sure that it does fix the problem.

I know SE North America won't honor the warranty. The phone is actually a V802SE from Japan. Any chance I can get a replacement or at least a fix through warranty? I wonder if I call Sony Ericsson Japan, will then answer in English or Japanese? Anyone know?

Japan has english speaking people, so dont worry they will reply in english. I dont think you going to get much help though mate. I suggest if you have a friend in Europe to send it there and have them take it to a service centre.
