I'm getting this stupid popup again and again while surfing the web. Can anybody suggest what can this be? Spyware?

i normally get them when i reinsall windows xp, they go away after a few messeges.

OK:

Go to start>run

type services.msc

when the window pops ups search for "messanger", the right click and select propoties. Press Stop and make sure start up type is selected to disabled. Should stop all together.

If u install SP2 i belive this is automaticly stopped

Windows XP Home
Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Double click Services Scroll
down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

Looks like spyware to me, especially as it's asking you to go to a certain website and download something and looks like it's trying to scare you. Download Adaware and Microsoft Anti-Spyware from www.download.com, they're both free and pretty good too.

And yes, stopping Windows Messenger and upgrading to XP SR2 and doing all your windows updates should help get rid of annoying messages like that too
