It works with window defragementation using a card reader
And the result is just as great ^_^
faster searching time for songs, video, document.
I did it just now and i am satisfied with it ^_^

Worth a try

with the speed of access of solid state memory can you really notice a difference after defragging?

I've tried this in the past and never noticed anything different myself

I will try it on my SD card. It is 1gb almost full. It has a read time of 3.5mb/s this is much slower than a HDD, so defragmenting should speed up some. I will post some details later about % it is fragmented and results after defragmening.

Here are the results...
Card is only 2% fragmented, this is because I filled it with mp3 and 2 movies and not yet deleted many things and copy new items on it. Even if I open a large movie (200mb) there is no lag in opening it. I think this does not depend on read speed, but on access time. this is messured in miliseconds. So I guess if a file is badly fragmented it takes longer loading it, but i can test that.

Id bet money on it making absolutely no difference.
The data is stored in blocks or sectors, like a hdd. But nothing has to move back and forth physicaly like a hdd!

It would take the same to read blocks 1,2,3 as 1,999,3 as its just routed from a differnt part of the chip, at 3/4 of the speed of light it doenst add much to access time..

i knotice it because when i play mp3 from my mms duo pro it took like few (like 2 to 5) seconds to search through the mms, but after i defraged it using window's defragementation tools, it just took less then 0.5second to update my playlist ^_^ (more like instance update play list)
