I've been playing a bit with the scorching-new version of Documents To Go for UIQ

http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/uiq/index.html

and it really looks good. I had previous experience with DTG on my Treo 270, but this appears to be a very nice set of programs.

DTG, contrary to QuickOffice, reads and writes _real_ Office format documents, no html disguised as such. There is no PC-side synch program, as no file format change occurs. Graphics display without a hitch (just a fraction of a second delay in scrolling), tables are fully supported, as are foot- and endnotes and even comments. I haven't tried the spreadsheet yet, leaving that for later this week (can't get too excited all in one day, can we?).

OK, so the presentation program is only a viewer, but I don't use that anyway.

It even works with PrintBoy!

Best of all: if you are a previous owner of a version of QuickOffice (even the version that comes preinstalled on the P910), you get a $20 discount on the not-too-unreasonable price of $ 49.99!

Have downloaded the trial version. From what I've seen so far, this product at $29.99 for me with the discount just poohs on Quickoffice 3 at $50-odd. The image display alone in the document viewer might be worth it for some.

Odd though that it will fit non-table text to screen but force a horizontal scroll for tabled text, even within the same document. I'd have preferred the option of either one or the other applied to the whole doc.

Trying to install it on a co-workers p800 hwoever, it bombed everytime.

Put them onto quick office instead. Installed, hasslefree.

I checked with Magic Launcher's Process lister: DTG takes up over 300 kb of RAM, more than 3 times what QuickOffice uses (and I'm sure I missed several processes). You might want to try closing as many apps as possible before trying it out on a P800.

OTOH, it positively flies on my P910.

That's strange. The P800 is explicitly mentioned as a compatible device.

Have you considered contacting Dataviz about this?

Seems like someone at DataViz was listening ... ! In the latest version of Documents To Go just released, v.2.001, you can now ...

"... view tables in an Expanded or Compressed view (compressed view wraps the text inside cells to fit the screen better so that you don’t have to scroll as much to see all the contents of a table)."

And DataViz is still offering the $20 discount for existing users of Quickoffice by the way.
