Can anyone tell me if I might get an improvement in speed if I move my installed software onto my memory stick? Whats the minimum amount of available memory the OS requires on C: ? Also, would there be a quicker way of doing this rather than unistalling/reinstalling? Im quite happy manually moving files if this is necessary

You can manually move the files, but after that you will not be able to uninstall them automatically.
The advantage I see is that helps prevent C: from filling up, I also might help on long term disk fragmentation.
I disavantage I see of uninstalling the files in D: is that they are gone the moment you remove/switch memory sticks.

how much internal memory have you got remaining?i tend to install all my apps to D.you could manually move apps from C to D,much a few programmes install files to C in order to work correctly.Ezitap and worldmate are two such examples.it's easy enough to do..but you'd have been better of using an app like juninstaller to monitor exactly which files are appropriate to the app you want to move.

Before I formated my P910, I had all installed on D.
This time I installed everything (except games) in C and I think my P is a tad faster.
Of course I have a P910, so I have a never-ending disk

@ _LAU_ Great reply. So you think the fone operates quicker with aps installed on C:? Interesting. As for checking how much free memory I have on C:, whats the easiest way of doing this?

I have a p900
C: IS faster. I did some tests with the camera. Record a movie to C: and its smooth, little pixelation and good frame rate. Record to D: and it stutters, lots of pixelation when moving.
This is with a 128mb SanDisk MagicGate duo.
Apps also load a little faster from C:
But C: is your storage (not ram, the memory for running apps is different). I have an email sync app installed so all my corportate email I recieve are stored on C: by default. your contact, calander are also C:
I install everything to D: apart from the critical stuff like OneBridge (email) and SMan. The rest is on the memory stick including my Wayfinder (cos its big). This leaves me with about 9mb internal storage for apps to store their bits and bobs.

@dannyoneill
Your movie recording test results don't make much sense.
The quality of compression is the result of settings in a compression software, and should be independent of the place where the file ends up saved on disk.

ok, my apps load faster and files save quicker to C:
The movie framerate is due to the device not able to save as fast to D: resulting in dropped frames.
