Hiya,

You may remember my first ever topic was about changing the facia on my phone and knackering it up!! Luckily I brought a new motherboard (£34 - bargain compared to the £200+ I got quoted at a service centre!) so my phone works. Hoorah!

However..........

It now seems when my phone rings I get no sound plus when people ring me and I answer it they can't hear me, but I can hear them

Would it be the jog dial connector that I need to replace or something else? Why isn't anything simple for me!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

It sounds like the mic is possible not connected to the motherboard properly. It is worth (carefully) taking the phone apart and checking that it is located properly and that the contacts are clean.

Sounds like your microphone isn't making contact with the motherboard. Try carefully bending the prongs that are the contacts on the microphone upwards a little. Careful not to do it too much, or you could snap them off.

btw, I presume the mic on the P800 is that type, if it's the button type like that on the T610, try rotating the button mic round a bit, make sure the contacts on the motherboard and on the mic are clean, and try again.

Make sure the screws are done up tightly (but not too tightly!) to ensure that everything makes contact that should.

Also, is it an authentic casing you've put on it, or a third party one? The third party ones often don't quite make fit 100%, and can lead to faults like mics or speakers not working.

Not sure about the rintones though, that may be a similar problem!

Thanks for your replies - I would now like to point out that I'm not blonde before you read what I am going to say below (it's obvious I am just incrediably stupid!)

1 - No ringtones/sound = me not put the speaker connectors in the right place! Moved it and "magically" I could hear stuff!! DOH!

2 - People can't hear me = me not actually putting the mic in my new case!!!

........................doh!

Ok - even though I had a few blonde moments - people still can't hear me when I'm talking on the phone.

Any ideas on why this is?

Thanks

Post a picture of how you've connected the Mic to the motherboard.

Also the speaker thing is kinda of confusing you just have to rotate it to the correct position.
