> reviving dead T39?
Bookmark topic
I got a dead T39m in a package deal, it does not power on.
I am not a phone repairer, but reasonably handy with fiddly repairs. Is there anything I can try to revive the phone before I toss it?
Thanks,
George

different reasons for it not powering on.. dead battery, bad circuitry, or bad firmware. #2 is hard to fix, while #1 is easy to spot and #3 is easy to fix with a Terminator Dongle.

The normal reason that I have found for a T39 not turning on is because the battery is dead. They are normally very reliable.

Dont toss it mate. Somebody here will be willing to take her and give it a try. Put it on the "for sale section" if all else fails.

Even if it is totally dead, you could probably sell it either on Ebay or here and someone would buy it for spares, e.g. the LCD, casing if in good condition, etc.

try leaving it on charge for at least 20-30min... if the battery is completely empty it can take awhile before it comes back to life...

or connect the power directly to the battery... just give it a little shock... that's how I got my A1018s back to life

Thanks, folks. Did not mention (took it as an obvious thing to check) that the battery is OK. It is good enough to power up and run a T28 anyway, the T39 should not suck that much more.
Would anyone know a repairer in Brisbane (Australia) who would not charge the earth to have a look and fix the firmware issue if that is wrong.
Thanks,
George

Thanks, will try SE.
No, I could not check the phone before buying. It was part of a package deal that got me 1.5 functioning T28s (for the kids, the .5 needs a new front casing) and the dead T39, for AUD26. I am not complaining, and reviving the T39 would be the icing on the cake. It is what I need, though: just a phone with Bluetooth, no bells and whistles.
Cheers,
George
