I've been tring the phone without the flip. Although it feels the same the jog dial no longer works when clicked in. (It still scrolls). It doesn't work whether I'm in Virtual Flip mode or not.
Is this correct?
Is there a remedy?

that sounds like a hardware fault to me. Try putting your flip back on and seeing if the jog wheel will click inwards. I suspect it won't, but either way this seems like a problem that is best corrected by a service center.

Yes works fine with the flip back on. Problem is I prefer the flip off! Would a master reset help?

There is no real reason why it should work with the fip on and not with the flip off. Having opened the phone up myself I know the two pieces of hardware are not in any way related. I would try a master reset just in case it solves your problem, but I wouldn't count on it working.

There is a problem with the P900 when the flip is removed. The jog dial back and forward dosnt always work. Its a known hardware fault.

There is a workaround that I have used for about a year and no ill effects.

You need to connect Pins 4 & 5 with a small piece of wire. Make sure though it dosnt touch any of the other pins. Connect them and all works normal.

I now have the flip back on as when using it in a car flip on is much easier but the trick works and not had any problems.

Interesting Danny - thanks - where/how can I discover which are pins 4 and 5?
Is the P910i also prone to this "known" fault?
Incidentally the master reset didn't work.

When you remove the flip and cover you have 6 pins

1 2 3
4 5 6

Just connect 4 and 5 with a tiny bit of insulated wire (so they dont touch any other pins) and your good to go.

Some ppl hold the wire in place with bluetack others use a harddisk jumper (if you can get one in the right size)

Managed to bridge 4 and 5 (tricky with my eyesight!) but, alas, no joy.
Does anyone know how much I would be expected to pay to get this fixed?

Had this problem with a P900 too, flip off, locked screen, but then couldn't unlock it again as it didn't accept the second action of jog dial "push in". Turned out to be software related though, but can't remember what now. Sure it was something like Tracker, or Handy Day Diary. After removing that it worked fine.
