guys i have seen one in the web with "l" (L) as the sign.... claming to be the fastest windows computer ....... know any thing?..... which do you think is the Fasterst Windows based computer....and the Fastest over all computer...i mean desktoop.... irrespective of the o.s mac or windows....?

but seriously here are the fastest supercomputers as of late 2004 (and i'm pretty sure you're referring to the IBM "L" computers).
but for Windows/Mac based OS i think it's around 3.8 - 4GHz, unless i'm mistaken!

for desktops (apple, pentium, amd) it also comes down to how they are tested. apple uses photoshop, i think, for their tests, and the speeds are still very similar for a similar PC desktop or a workstation.

so speed is different for what you use the computer for.
and memory helps a lot, of course!

My friend has a 3 gig intel. And it took more time to put xp in it than it took on my pc. And it takes eons to start up. Well my pc isn't that good too in the start-up department! though!
