What's the general view of the need or use of anti virus software? DO you use it - is it becoming more necessary and if you do - what sort do you use?

the only thing who could work as virus on your UIQ phone is a .sis file who installs corrupted font on your phone...

...no viruses can be put on your phone without you install some .sis file... so allways do a backup before you install anything, and just install apps that you know who are safe...

Here is an interesting article about viruses and Symbian:

http://3lib.ukonline.co.uk/viruses.htm

It's by Steve Litchfield, one of the Gurus of the Psion.

There are no UIQ virus as such, the only symbian virus out there are for.. you guessed it.. Series 60 phones.

As none of the P series phones run series 60, it's not a problem. Well not yet anyhow.

So your p series phone is safe

haha, Steve is the man. all so true. Make sure you read his article.

Basically, you can only get a virus if somone writes one, makes it an install and you like an idiot install it.

You have to remember EVERY virus is nothing more than a program somones written to do somthing you dont want it to. Its not some magic being that floats around and does damage, it does exactly what its programmed to.
