I've just debranded my phone using davinci and I used the newest firmware, R2AY. I also changed my CDA, and now I can use SEUS. But I wonder, what happens if I use SEUS now, it says it's ready to download new firmware, but will it be degraded to an older firmware?

I'm in exactly the same position as you, except I have R2AT. I wondered this too, so I gave it a try. The SEUS said my phone was ready to update, so I continued. Whilst it was downloading the software, I took the phone off the dock. Once the download finished, it obviously said it had lost communication with the phone. I looked in the "software-data" folder in C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service and the SEUS had downloaded R2AE.
It would seem that if the SEUS does not understand the software version you have, it will install what it believes to be the latest for your CDA. So if you're going to try it, do what I did and take the phone off the dock whilst the software is downloading, then check what has been downloaded.
The good thing is that the SEUS definitely downloads the correct firmware in terms of branding, based on your CDA, so in the future when a new version is released on the SEUS, we can update without a problem.

I just tried mine and it said i already had the latest upgrade, which is the R2AE from Davinci i got a few weeks ago,so they still got R2AE on SEUS then.

Thanks for the reply Sebby, I will try that next time

So now you just have to wait until SEUS comes witth a newer firmware, it feels like it's gonna take a while though. Davinci is two firmwares ahead, but I hope they will catch up in a short while.

Interesting stuff. I got a new K700 delivered today with R2AE033. It was Orange branded.
Then when I tried to update it usiing SEUS, it told me it already had the latest firmware, so I went ahead anyway and I still have the Orange branding. Hmph. Waste of time!
They are getting quite strict with this Update lark aren't they.

Unless you chnage CDA then sure you will still have orange branding. Even if SEUS have newer firmware you will still only be able to upgrade to one that is approved by Orange.

If I unbrand the phone and change the CDA, then will I be able to connect with SEUS? At present I get the operator not supported blah blah.
To Unbrand upgrade the FW and change CDA is 1 or 2 credits at DaVinci?

No you won't. I explained in the other thread, your handset is disallowed based on its IMEI, it's not to do with the CDA.

I was just curious as Milton the original poster said
"I've just debranded my phone using davinci and I used the newest firmware, R2AY. I also changed my CDA, and now I can use SEUS. "
Is he mistaken?

The fact that he can use the SEUS is not as a result of the flashing and change of CDA, but the fact that he'll be able to update the unbranded firmware is.
