Hi, sorry to be posting this as I know it's all been discussed previously in other topics, but they have confused me to no end.
I own a Sony Ericsson S700i.
The software info tells me this:

Is this the latest firmware version?
If not,
a) What hardware and software do I require to perform the firmware update?
b) What is the latest firmware, and where do I download it from?
Once again, sorry about this, but all the other topics have confused me to no end.

I believe the latest is R3M.
You'll need a DSS-20 or DSS-25, then simply go to the support pages on the Sony Ericsson website for the S700, click the Sony Ericsson Update Service link, and away you go.
Alternatively, take your handset to your nearest service centre and they'll perform the update.

If at all possible I need serious help with regard to updating my S700 s/w. To cut a long story short I shall tell you what I've done
(1) Successfully upgarded s/w to R3M via website.
(2) Wanted to DeCustomize my O2 mobile so played around a bit with DaVinci which totally killed my phone.
(3) Managed to successfully update the s/w via recovery mode on SE website.
However when I switched the mobile on for the first time after the recovery process it said 'please wait' for a while and then through up the message 'Configuration error. Please contact service provider or network operator'. And it now says this everytime I switch off/on.
Does anyone know the cause of this and preferable the solution? I can't really send my mobile to SE centre as I am currently abroad and will be for a while.
Any help and info appreciate

Did ya change the IMEI ?
try that and also check if twas the rite S/w from DaVinci

Now can anyone interest thyself in my sob story ?
S700i update without Internet ?
Have d/loaded the setup.exe at a public pc.
Brought it home, but running it has NOT thrown up any wizard or release Notes to guide me with update.
What.. Am I missin something here ?

Your going to need to flash it again, either with Davinci, TMS or something similar - either that or take it to a service centre and pretend SEUS was to blame, no guarantees that they will believe you though.

Hi thanks for your reply. I solved the problem actually. What I did was after the recovery mode of SE website where it was saying configuration error I went back to the DaVinci site and did an update or the main s/w + FS + Finalization (you have to buy a credit).
As for your problem its simple - your missing a net connection. SE s/w updates are via the net so there has to be an active net connection throughout the process.
