Hi guys . Any one know how to plant bonsai trees ?? I am very much interested in planting such trees in my house . Is it possible ? What are the basic steps ? Pls help me .....

Step 2: Purchase a bonsai plant of your choice (Ranges from 500 rupees to 5000 depending on the plant) Step 3: Take the plant home, put in on your window sill in sunlight and water it daily. I also know it is a mobile form . But they dont mention not to discuss about other matters . I also know that plants are got from nursery . I want to grow on my own . If you actually know anything reply . Else . . . .

I thought bonsai trees are normally grown from cuttings of full grown trees? And they take a very long time to mature... I've read somewhere that some bonsai trees can be over 100 years old!

I own 10 bonsai plants- all purchased from a nursery. So i wouldn't know anything about growing one. Sorry.

Not all trees can be bonsaied, some broadleafed trees do not bonsai so well.
Bonsai are often gathered from the wild, for example, in mountainous areas where there is little soil, a tree might 'naturally' bonsai itself. Of course. check who owns the land! ...
The person who chooses to collect it, will remove the soil around the roots of the tree, little by little, replacing the soil with sand. After many months, the tree is lifted.
But many 'bonsai' people would choose to leave that tree alone in it's natural environment.
I have seen Bonsai's that are more than 400 years old, and have certificates/documents to show age.
I think you can find many good beginners books on the net, as well as Bonsai Societies pages.
