well if it's just copying the contents of your MS you want to do, you could just use a file explorer to copy them into a folder on your computer.

use a third parly file manager such as Epocware's PC File Manager, which shows you ALL the contents of your MS and not just what the phone wants you to see (media and documents only). if you need to restore the MS, then it's as simple as doing the reverse, i.e., use the file manager to copy from your PC to the MS.

You are not alone. I have exactly the same problem. And now the backup fails at the end of the system backup aswell.. It all seems well till the last few % then it says "backup failed" ... WTF is wrong with pcsuite?? I can not backup or update the phone properly! grrr...

just go to the root directory of your mem stick, select all files and folders, then copy them into a folder in your pc.

to restore, just do the exact opposite. copy all files and folders into a newly formatted mem stick.

irfan, I bought this phone when it came out and had no problems backing up regularly since day one.. That's the weird whing. The problem "suddenly" appears after many moths.. Even reinstalling windows / pcsuite doen't help. Guess there is some new file / program on the phone that the pcsuite struggles with.

I am getting a card reader now and am going to backup the vital stuff manually from now on like other ppl are suggesting. Just bugs me that it has to be necessary when we have special sw for the task!

@irfan

Do you have AppForge on your phone? Does the error message happen with a file called alarms.dat?

I have had this problem previously with AppForge - if you remove that, the backup usually works. If you don't have it, then I'm as stumped as everyone else!
