> HELP! Disk formatted
Bookmark topic
A mate of mine has just had his P800 go into meltdown in the same way mine did. The battery life went very quickly and now the drive has formatted itself. Does anyone know (no, he didn't back it up ever!) of any data recovery software out there? I've found a couple of things that claim to get back photos etc but nothing ideal.
All help welcomed with open arms
Cheers
M

alas, when battery is totally empty, there is no power to the phone memory anymore, like what happens if you switch of a pc. All that is on the memory card will be saved (like the hdd of a pc) but all in phone memory (like ram memory in pc) will be lost.

Batesie- I agree. And so does he! It's taken the shine of West Ham getting promoted somewhat.
PS Thanks dragonfly

You cannot recover from flash memory. Unlike a disk which dosnt actually delete teh data but just updates the FAT flash memory when its gone in this way its gone.
Total powerloss shouldnt have caused that though.

I had a similar problem with mine. The battery started losing power like it was going out of fashion and then it formatted itself. I was less than pleased.

p800 software was very buggy. use this as a good excuse to get the P1000 when it comes out later this year.

Yes ram memory looses all when there is no power.
The HDD of a pc stores data magnetically. If you do a delete command it goes very fast because there is a TOC (table of content) that has the data where a file is stored. Only that is being deleted, leaving the file physically on the disk. This can be recovert until the file gets overwritten. If you do a quick format, the only the TOC gets whiped and recovery of whole dish is possible. Also in case of HDD crash.

make sure you have Sman installed.
I find a lot of people have battery problems but dont realise its the camera to blame. When you open the camera it stays open and dosnt get closed, this is a huge drain on the battery so use sman to close it. Use the flip close flush.
Without it when I have a full battery , I open the camera, close the flip and carry on and within 4 hours my battery is 100% dead
