Hi,
I have a T39m and a toshiba Tecra 9000. I am trying to use my t39m to connect to the internet preferably by Bluetooth. I have tried and tried and hunted the web but can't get it working. I can synchronise etc. but can't get the dial up to work. I don't want to connect using GPRS, the rather slow 9k will do!

I have also tried connecting by infrared and when it dials the number it doesn't dial the area code. I use NTL as a ISP, but also have a FreeNetName account (if that is any better to use).

Could someone give me some tips. Please.

have you subsribed to your SP's data services? you need to subscribe to it if you're going to use CSD (or GSM data dialup)

In your Windows dial-up for your provider, you need to force it to always dial the area code, or enter the area code as part of the full number and uncheck the user area code dialling rules. Either works.

Ok, using infrared it dials the number and thens says no answer. But the settings all work via the latops built in modem (which is how I'm connected now) Any more ideas??

I think you must be out of your mind. Using normal CSD is like crawling on the freeway. Dont forget you will be downloading pictures and sounds. You should really reconsider in getting a GPRS. This post was posted from a T39

you cant just dial-up and make a data connection without subscribing to data services.

@swag
have GPRS activated by your SP. then do a search in the forums on how to configure your phone/pda/pc/laptop, etc.
