I need your help!

I'm developing a Java email application for mobile phones, but I only have a handful of phones myself, I'd like to test it on a wide variety of phones. So I'd like to ask for help from anyone who'd be willing to test my app for me.

The application lets you access POP3, IMAP and common webmail services (Gmail, MSN, Yahoo, etc). Because it proxies connections through an intermediate server it's quite efficient on data transfer and considerably faster than any built in mobile client (a couple times faster and about 1/4 the data transfer). You can see screenshots here:

http://www.prevoy.com/content/how_it_works/screenshots.php?ss=1

It should work on most MIDP (1 or 2) mobile phones with at least a 128x128 colour screen. On your mobile you need to have data access configured for WAP (to download) and also set up for GPRS for applications.

To download, please go here:

Any comments or suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I tried the second version (for MIDP-1 java phones) on my T610 and my phone just restarts! Too bad... Your application looks great. I've seen pictures used in it (using WinRar you can open *.jar files) and it actually is nice. Hope feautures are as good... Let us know when you make another version, that will hopefully work...

Have just downloaded it to my K750i, but am waiting to set it up as it asks for my phone number, and I will be porting within the next week. Could you advise whether or not I can change the number in the settings somewhere at a later date? If so, I will have a play now.

Cheers,

Dave

edit: Also tried it on the P910i and it installs ok, but just produces a KERN exec error when I try to open it...?

Volume100 - Thank you for your post. There are identified bugs with the T610. I will notify you once a new version has been posted. Thank you for your efforts.

Hi Dave! Thank you for your participation as well. Please proceed with the set-up with your current number and you can change it at a later date.

I'll give it a go on both the 9500 and P800 and see how it goes. Will be right back!

Hi there,

I just installed it on my new SE K750i which is running on the Fido network here in Canada. However, when I try to log in I get the error: "Error connecting to server #-1" every time I try to connect. I am using the username of "tobyb" if that helps. Aside from this small problem this looks like an AMAZING application! The one thing my k750i is missing is IMAP access to my Mac.com email and this seems to be the solution (if this error gets rectified).

Thanks for putting in the time to develop this.

I uploaded it to my K700i. The firmware is R2A041. First, the phone crashed and I took off the battery to restart it. Then, your program loaded, but the menu was messed up. The third time it loaded and the menu was better, but still some letters from it had different background colour. For example, Login ID: every letter is black, but every letter's background is dark blue, light blue, black and white. It looks bad. Maybe it's my firmware version.
I will activate Internet GPRS later and test its functionality.
Does it work with yahoo mail?

I just went to the web site for the app and saw a login section for my account. When I tried to log in I found out that my account wasn't created. So I tried to create an account on the web page but that feature is password-protected. I think if I had a functional account all would be well, but that seems to not be able to be done right now. Any suggestions?
