I often hear about BenQ, but frankly I have never seen any of their products. I know they make notebooks and cellphones...

Acer and BenQ are one and the same.

@amnesia...Acer is a company based in Taiwan
Benq is out of S Korea...They are completely different companies..In fact Benq manufactures high end plasma displays as their primary product line

its odd you say that, because I bought a CD-Writer 3 years ago packaged in Acer packaging, I saw the same one with BenQ packaging.

either way these phones have nothing to do with BenQ or Acer.

I saw this phone and I thought it was the SE at first sight. The menus looked identical and almost with the design...But its phillips? and also a linux powered smartphone?

hmm...acer or benq probably do not manufacture cd writers themselves..possibly the same OEM has supplied to both companies which sell the product under their brandname
