Hello everyone,

I was just setting up my new k750i to access my Apple Mac.com email account (which I use via IMAP). I am on on Fido's GPRS network and am able to access WAP pages but the phone times out whenever I try to check for new mail.

These are the settings I have in my phone:
Connect using: Fido GPRS WAP
Protocol: IMAP4
Incoming server: mail.mac.com
Incoming port: 143
Encryption: No encryption
Mailbox: tcbartlett
(my email address is tcbartlett at mac dot com)
Outgoing server: smtp.mac.com
Outgoing port: 25
Email address: tcbartlett@mac.com
Download: Headers & text
Copy outgoing: off
Check interval: 5 mins

So with these settings it just times out after trying to check for new email. I'm completely out of ideas, does anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate them!

Thanks everyone,

Ybot

You need to use a different data account where the APN is internet.fido.ca

i.e. "Connect using: Fido GPRS WAP" should point to a different data account

Also "Outgoing server: smtp.mac.com " will not work unless mac.com supports authenticated SMTP.

check out fido.howardforums.com FAQ for detail settings.

And I hope you have unlimited GPRS package if you are using IMAP, or email in general.

Thanks for replying. I just signed up for unlimited data for $50/month. Now I'm just testing the email capabilities of this phone. After using a Hiptop2 with push email, this polling every 5 minutes business does not have me impressed.
