We'll after seeing the abortion Orange have made of the menu structure on the K750 I've decided to give 02 a chance with the (not so much) unmolested firmware. I know I'm shallow but the Orange menu looks like a step backwards in terms of design.

I wanna look at my phone each time and go "cool, that's new, I like that," and I just don't when I see Oranges attempt.

I haven't been with 02 for over six years and left because their customer service was diobolical.

Are they any better? Has anyone else made the switch from Orange to 02? Does the phone still scream constantly when you have a voicemail, and demands that it won't shut up until you call 901?

It'll be interesting to know your thoughts. The new K750 should be here tomorrow, I'll let you know how I get on.

im currently making the same switch as you for the same phone as you also. are you buying direct from o2? i think i might get it from www.theorder.co.uk as the phone is only £20 from there, although less minutes and text from offical o2 site, then again you get first three months doubled.

so dont know whether its worth paying extra £20 to get it direct from o2 or not? hopefully from theorder it will be sim free and not an o2 phone

I have both O2 and Orange contracts. Like you said Orange has better Customer Service and O2 handsets are 'relatively' untouched. Both contracts are up in 6 months and I will only be choosing to go with one.

Horner - got mine from onestopphoneshop.co.uk I've ordered from them before and they've been 90% ok.

Free phone, delivery and connection, 200 x net minutes + 50 text a month, doubled to 400 mins and 100 txt for the first three months, normal line rental £30, reduced to £4.99 per month for 6 months (but you have to redeem this after in stages throughout your contract) + (and this is most important for me) a car charger, cause the old SE K700 charger will not work with the K750 pop port, oh and 3 months free insurance, charged at £4.99 a month after, but you can cancel anytime.

Oh and happy 100 posts to me. yey B-)

I moved from Vodafone to 02 and are now going on my second year with them. I have no complaint whatsoever and 02's customer services are in general very good. I have not yet had a problem so I cannot comment on that. The only calls I have had to make was some general enquiries and contract changes - bolt ons etc. and in all cases the service was very good.

Comparing with Vodafone, my monthly average costs are now about 20 quid or so, less. That's with the same amount of phone usage (on average). This includes international calls to family.

I'm on 02's equivalent (250) contract to Vodafone, thats why I can compare the costs.

My suggestion is that you go to 02 as soon as you can.

Hope this helps...

@Kaiesha So £4.99 for 3 months means you have to pay that back over the remainder of the contract. £75? I thought there was a catch

my only doubt with onestopphoneshop is the fact that on the k750 it describes it as coming just with a charger and no cd, data cable etc.

I was going to leave Orange in favour of O2 because the latter has significantly cheaper roaming rates and also allows you to take roaming texts out of your text message bundle. I went as far as getting the contract and a brand new K750i.
However, the phone is going back. Why? Well partly because Orange offered me a K750i and a greatly reduced line rental which offsets any savings I would make roaming with O2, but mainly because I was leaving Orange with a very heavy heart. In the week I had the O2 phone I found their customer service to be average at best. I don't object to being held in a queue, but I do object if I am paying 0870 rates for the privilege. Orange customer service is competent, free and available 24 hours. Add in a user friendly website, 2 for 1 cinema admission and the funniest adverts on television (I like to reward good advertising ) and I can put up with a slightly worse phone interface. Especially since the indications are that the phone functionality is unnaffected.

Just my two pennies worth...

PS

Oh and yes O2 do still use that voicemail system that bombards you with phonecalls. To be fair you can set it up to text you if you prefer...

Well, if anyone wants to know, I got my K750i from Carphone Warehouse in Croydon on O2. However the handset was totally unlocked and sim-free, no branding whatsoever!!!!
