i want to transfer large files from my desktop to my laptop, how do i go about it? can i use a ethernet ports and wire to transfer them?

if you have two way ethernet yes (crossovers)

if its just a standard ethernet then you will need a switch or something, maybe

i dont think i have a cross over cable, i have the blue one that came with my ntl wore and also on ei got with my ps2 online adapter. can i just connect one end into my laptop and the other into my pc? i want to use the microsoft file transfer wizzard.

If (by any small chance) you want to do this between two Macs, just connect a Firewire cable between the two and restart one of them while holding down the T key. It will mount on the other Macs desktop as an external harddisk. Easy!
