Its a service that allows you to use your 'My Friends' instant messeger built into your SE phone for MSN; Yahoo; ICQ etc (some Nokia's and a few other models also contain a IM compatible with Yamigo). Of course because the IM (instant messenger) is imbedded in your phone software you have many more features than a java (J2ME or Symbian) IM - more features such as: you can minimize the app and let it run in the background while you phone; sms; download your email; anything else.
Of course it has its limitations -- you can only have 30 (some phones 20) contacts in your list (My Friends list) that of you can see them online or offline and talk to them. Of course all your other contacts will see you as online and I find that with my K700i contacts that are online and not in my list in My Friends can still talk to me and I can talk back. They will appear as an extra contact until my next login. This should work the same with other SE (Sony Ericsson) phones.
To add a contact to your my friends list find the "Add contact" option and select "From server". You can't add contacts in My Friends luck such:
name@hotmail.com;name@yahoo.com, but in a form similar to this this: name%40hotmail.com@msn.com (
Adding a contact in My Friends is not the same as adding it normally in MSN/Yahoo... messenger. It only allows you to see there online status and be able to chat to them. If you delete a contact from your My Friends list it's still in your actual MSN contact list.
Sometimes the speeds in Yamigo may vary (when more or less users are online). You can set your polling when you register your account (on yamigo.com) from fast to slow poling (depending on how much you willing to spend GPRS wise. -- of course My Friends needs a GPRS (or maybe dialup) connection.)
A wonderful point about this service is IT's FREE!!! (of course you still paying for GPRS but the program will only transfer a few bytes, maybe a few kilobytes.) You can register your account on
http://www.yamigo.com - you will be specified with a username and password and they will explain how to enter your account details into your My Friends application (I know on K700i 'domain' is left blank).
Heres how my 'My Friends' settings look:
Username: ***** Domain: Password: ***** Server:
http://www.yamigo.com/wv/control
Internet Profile: Auto-login: Off
Allow connection: anywhere
-----------------------------------------------------------
In my opinion this is the best MSN/Yahoo/ICQ etc service available for phones with a built in IM mostly for all Sony Ericsson phones with a 'My Friends' IM - namely: K700i; S700i; K750i...

I use it on both my SE V800 and my Nokia 7270.
Yamigo is so awesome and it's even better since it is absolutely free!
If you chat a lot with your IM buddies this tool is perfect since you save on SMS costs.
It's especially nice for those of us with unmetered data plans like my $4.99 T-Zones plan.
