Hi Guys,
I'm seriously contemplating getting an apple, I mean, there are so many things that seem so much better, a mate of mine just got an iBook, and the OSX 10.4 tiger seems so efficient and fast, but there are a few Q's I have:
1) I have GTA:III for PC, and in the ReadMe it says it won't work on a Mac, but if you get that virtual PC software, does that allow the use of such large consumption files as a full 3D game?
2) I'm looking at the new G5 iMac, any reccomendations? 17" or 20" etc?
3) Anything you'd like to say?
I've always used windows, and the amound of people I know that have switched say that they are so pleased, and I love the 64bit G5 processor, that is seriously tempting. So what would you say?
JoolsG4?

Most defenitely!
I would have both, but you may not be able to afford it.
In 2007 all apples will come with a faster Intel processor over the recent IBM ones, if you wait you may be pleased. Remember longhorn is on it's way too. I think it boils down to personal taste, some people don't like apples designs, i certainly do. Having used one for a week then windows for a week when i was doing work experience (design) i must say apple is slightly annoying for finding things but i'm sure you get used to it. You have to press a key plus the mouse button for 'right hand click too' which was annoying whilst working in photoshop but it was certainly smoother, didn't make awful noises either.
But i am quite impressed with Windows XP SP2. I do a lot of design and that means using up RAM and constantly switching between photoshop and flash etc. and the apple handled it well. My computer does too but does slow down alot.
Cheers

I really want to get one, I mean this just makes me want it straight away:
This is the model I'm looking at, although I'm not sure whether to get the 20" or not?
I mean, I probably won't be getting it until late 2006-7, so I will be seeing what else is coming, and I'm interested in the new intel processors as well.

PS:
I love the designs so much, so crisp and smart.

The question you need to ask yourself is: 'What do I want to do with my computer?'
You mentioned GTA3, I can tell you right now that it'll never run properly, if at all, using a Windows emulator on a mac, no matter how powerful the processor is, how much memory you have, how good the graphics card is etc.
This is the whole point. Macs are excellent machines but if you're into gaming, then forget it. If you want to surf the net, get your emails and use your computer for 'serious' stuff such as office applications, desktop publishing (particularly, Quark Express for mac is the dog's whats-its!), photo and video editing, web design etc. then by all means get one. You won't be disappointed both with it's performance and stability.
If, on the other hand, you want to use your computer for a bit of everything and retain maximum compatibility then stick with M$ PC systems. It's an endless argument and there will never be a clear winner because at the end of the day it all comes down to that question that I asked at the start of this post.

Oh, its so confusing. I really am not sure what to do. Some of the latest computers from apple are meant to be perfect for games now, the new iMac is meant to run Halo, (even tho I don't like halo), 1.4 times faster than on a 3.4Ghz P4 PC, (in framerates), so I'm really not sure. Its really confusing.
Also, this new switch to intel chips, this is apparanty going to make macs faster and cheaper, when is this happening?
So, I really am not sure, I get alot of work done on my PC, but its meant to be so much easier on a Mac, I mean, I do alot more work than gaming, in fact I can't remember when I last gamed on my PC. I've got a PSP you see.
Anyway, I really am going to wait for a few more opinions.

just do it!
I've got a Mac Mini and an iBook.
BOTH worth it.
My dad bought a Powerbook after I bought my iBook.
Going to give it to my sister now.
700 pounds with 768mb ram, not bad.

Isn't that a bit of a generalisation?
