Hi guys,
Intended just as an opinion for anybody who possibly considered buying or importing this phone. I sold my T68 a few days ago and bought this phone today, and thought I'd share the pluses/minuses with anybody else in case its of use.
First of all - numerous benefits over the Samsung T100. 65k colour screen instead of 4,096, tri-band, GPRS, infra-red, internal SMS memory, etc., all problems with the T100.
I don't use Bluetooth or MMS, but if you do, then this probably isn't the phone for you, as neither are supported. There are many positives though. First of all, it looks absolutely gorgeous, the display especially being incredibly clear. 16chord ringtones sound good too, and are also quite loud which was somewhat surprising. The keys are very solid, which was a problem on my T68 - '3' key broke, and the 'NO' key always felt very weird when depressed. But most of all, the menus are brilliant. The T68 menus are cumbersome (IMO) and laggy - at some stages, if you want to return to the main screen, holding down NO for a few seconds will take you there, but there's an unbelievably slow delay at times. Just browsing through menus and changing options can be annoying, and this was the main reason I sold my T68. I know people like to say its because there's so many features, and/or it improves battery life, but I'd rather have shortened battery life with responsive menus. But the S100 has a few negatives too - while T9 is very fast, its unadaptive - it can't remember new words. I'm not sure if a firmware update is planned to fix this. Java apps can only be downloaded via WAP, not the data cable. Every single number for a single person takes up one of the 500 phone entries (not a problem for me to be honest, not sure if it will be for many). No MMS or Bluetooth as already mentioned. But if you can live with these problems (and T9 is the only one which annoys me to be honest), then the phone is classily built and very impressive. You get a data cable in the box which saves forking out £30 for one, an extra battery, handsfree cable, etc.
Hope this is of some use to some of you guys. Reasoned opinions, etc., welcomed. Yer, I know this should have gone in the 'Other Manufacturers' forum, but I thought it might have a greater chance of being of use to someone in the more widely read forum.

Well, battery life is important to me and anyone living in California. We don't exactly have places in walking distance like people do in Europe, where they can take a 5 minute walk home to charge there phone.
We usually drive hours on the freeway to get somewhere, and having a lousy phone that only lasts 1 hour is worthless.
Don't get me wrong, I love the phones features (Especially with that 65k color screen), but it's just that battery life that discourages me from this phone. A lot of these new color phones are lacking the most important feature of the phone, the battery life. Ericcson on the other hand didn't miss out on that one, and I think it's great that they thought about power conservation and allow the phones to last for days without charging.

Talktime is around 6hours.
You also get a second battery included in the package, I think its called the 'extended' battery. I've not tried it though, so can't comment on it.

Hmm, perhaps. I am comparing the phone to the T-100 with the talktime of 80 minutes...
They both have similar Lithium Ion batteries, did they really improve power conservation on that phone? Just doesn't add up with that 65k color screen.

The 65k screen is STN, not TFT, which probably affects consumption a lot. Still looks brilliant though, and personally I've found it readable in daylight.

Hmm, interesting...
Give us a battery test and use it for 6 hours playing games
I might even consider this phone if the battery truely lasts that long, as I do like the screen and features of this phone (Especially that it's TRIBAND).

Why can't someone do a build in option so I can choose number of colors. Lets say I'm playing games-I choose 65 K. I sms my friend I can hava a 'blackand white' screen with extended standbytime and talktime. Just like you choose number of colors in Windows you should be able do do in your phone.

take this tip- it's free!

Picking up on your T9 comment on the inability to remember new words, I thought this was a problem on the T100 but it can be done, so I'm assuming the procedure is the same on the S100.
In ABC mode, enter your new word
Switch to T9 mode
Press 0 so the word is higlighted, then # for a space
Your dictionary should now contain this new word
Hope this helps

Another thing I forgot to mention; its really made the reception of my T68 look abysmal. There were certain areas of my house where I used to get no reception, now I'm getting 2 or 3 bars there.
Deltayoda I'll try and test it and let you know
As for the adaptive text, sadly it doesn't support it. I've read on a German forum about how the T100 can use that method, but Samsung have confirmed the S100 doesn't currently support adaptive.. Hopefully this can be fixed though!

Great peteribrahim, can't wait to hear your results
As for adaptive text (T9 Input), I don't really use it at all on any of my phones.
