Help! I want the k700i to remain on the 'home ' screen while in the car kit cradle. I've read manuals, tips etc, but I'm at a loss to work out how I can prevent the screen going blank or into screensaver during this profile (or anytime for that matter) when left unattended. Thoughts?

go to options then settings. then move over to display, scroll down to screen saver and set it to none. then scroll down to light and set it to power save. after a while the light will go off then the screen to get them back on just press the back button

In a car it would be best to have the display light on all the time, at least when ithe charger is connected. The screensaver off method does not work in that case though, the light remains on, even if it becomes slightly dimmed afer a while, but then comes a blank screeen and the digital clock is displayed. Is this maybe firmware-related? I know that I have a rather old FW version in my K700.

From Standby screeen, > Menu > Settings > Profiles > Select profile > In Car > Edit profile > Light > On.
This means that the 'Power Sucking' Light stays on when in your carkit but what the heh, it's being charged anyway right?
It won't affect the other profiles though.

Thanks one and all for the responses. I will try the instructions given once the phone returns to me post warranty claim. (Poor reception)
I'm pessimistic though. I'm fairly sure I've tried these options listed, only to find the screen eventually goes blank. Why power save in car-kit mode??? The borrowed nokia I have remains in 'home' screen mode al the time, giving constant reception status without touching the phone.
Watch this space...

Nokia 6100 has no ability to keep light switched on in carkit.
Many irate Nokia owners!

Nope.. The display switches off regardless. Yes, it does take one touch to reactivae the screen, but this is not what I'm after. I simly want the screen to remain on, even unlit would suffice, when not in use.
I phoned Sony and they have obviously had this request before as they were apologetic at the lack of ability of the K700i to remain on in car kit profile... Or any profile of course.
