I have the above hardware and I'm trying to get TomTom traffic updates via gprs on the p800 into the Ipaq using BT. After talking to Voda CS I was told to input *99# as the dialup number with web and web as User and password in DUN on the Ipaq with no success, I've read another post and inputted *99***2# as the dialup with the same user and pass which has had slightly more success i.e. the Ipaq now puts the globe up on the phone screen and seems to connect but when trying to browse to an internet page it never finds it including the HP help links in the favourites. Can anyone please help?

Cheers for the quick reply mate, I have tried replacing the 2 with a 1,3,4 and 5 with no success from any apart from the 3 it also allows me to connect the phone but with the same end product i.e. no internet pages can be found on the Ipaq. This may sound dumb but how do I find out my CID number and which account do I want to use? When I check the info tab on the globe in the phone screen it just says "modem" is this correct? as usually when I connect using the phone only it says Voda Live

Cheers mate, I've since been on the phone to Voda and they've given me a few things to try

1 Change to a different network then back to Voda to update the network software

2 I've been told that my CID is 1 as the Voda GPRS is first in the list in WAP Accounts (should it not be internet accounts?)

3 The number to dial *99***1#

4 Change the baud rate in the Ipaq to 115200

5 Input the string +cgdcont=1,"ip","internet" in extra dial strings on the Ipaq

Tried them all with no success, now I've got the problem of which one I bounce off the wall first, Ipaq or phone

Change the Baud rate to "57600", and instead of "internet", type in the access point you want to use, ie "mobile.o2.co.uk" for o2.

Also, my iPAQ 4150 only has the "*99#", with nothing after it. This setup was set up with a nokia and worked perfectly with my T630 first time.

I've never had to change the baud rate myself and "internet" is ths access point name for vodafone so that is correct in this case

*99# effectively means *99***1# as 1 is the default CID for that command if none specified. This is fine if your 1st data account happens to be the full internet data account which for you I guess it is.

I have used various ipaqs and various se phones (including p800, p900 and P910) on vodafone without issue and never had to use the cgdcont method although I have had to use that from the Motorola V3 and I have posted many times here how to configure them

no, as long as the data account is setup correctly in the phone and you note the CID (for non p series) or note the data account position starting at 1 (for p series) and use that in the *99***n# command that always works for me

on the ipaq you should not fill in username, password or domain and whereas on pre windows mobile 2003 ipaqs you had to configure the dialling patterns thats not neccessary on the 4150 (which I have also used)

here is an example of one of my many posts describing the setup and here is another and another

let me know how you go

Thanks a lot masseur, a very informative post.

I finally got it working, method was:-

P800

1 Setup a new Internet account in Control panel/Connections
Internet accounts (not WAP accounts as suggested by Voda CS)
as CID 4, connection type :- GPRS
Username :- web, Password :- web and Address :- internet

IPAQ

1 New Connection name :- internet
2 Modem :- BT dialup modem
3 Dialup number :- *99***4# (no dialling rules)
4 User name :-web, Password :- web (no domain)
5 Advanced :- Baud rate 57600 (no dial string)

Thanks again

Andy
