I bought a hs850 to use with my k750i. Seems great, I really like the feature on the headset that turns it off when the boom is closed. My trouble is that I can't find a way to make the phone send the audio to the headset when I make a call.

If I try to dial with the headset by selecting the number I want to call then holding the button on the headset down the phone does dial the number, but it still keeps the audio on the phone. And if I hit the button on the headset while it's ringing it hangs up! Right now I have to make the call and wait for an answer, then hit the button on the headset, wait a few seconds for the transfer, then, finally, say "hello."

All I want is for the phone to always send the audio to the headset if it is connected. Since I can close the headset when it's not in use there will never be a time that the headset is on yet I don't want to use it.

Any advice is appreciated.

There are major issues right now with the HS850 and the K750i - they simply do not work together at all.
Its possible (although not certain - it could afterall be the Motorola's fault) that a K750i firmware update will fix the problem although the recent update has not done anything to fix the it (despite fixing issues with other BT headsets).

this seems to be an increasingly common problem.

there is a discussion in this thread which you might find helpful, as well as some of the links and search tips.
