my son going to florida,us for higher studies.we want to be connected to him even during journey. route is mumbai-frankfurt-charlotte-gainesville.what type of handset, sim card and calling card should we purchase so that above is achieved as well as the handset is usable at florida through local sim/calling card.

tri-band handset
any network that works in USA but i dont know the networks in Mumbai
and u may need to get the tri-band phone unlocked to be able to use local usa sim cards
