Ok, i know theres a few topics on this, but none help me completly.
The other day I lost my P910i

The insurance wont replace it and gave me some crap excuse, and they said that I would have to buy a new one, for £300!!! I paid £150 6 months ago, or I could use my upgrade, which is also £150! So I used my upgrade to get a K750i for £30.
Now the problem is I have a backup of my P910i on my PC, and I want to get the contacts out of this backup and put them onto my K750i, or atleast get them out so I can manually put them in.
Looking at other threads I have located my backup and opened it using both Winzip and Backup Inspector, I've been lookig through all the files and found 2 which i think are what i need, contacts.ini and contacts.cdb, I opened the contacts.cdb with Excel, and you can see a few details like contact name, but it isn't linked with the nubmers, it all mostly comes out mumbled eg. " 00e0d1bce7db1d91ãNë¼Ñà‘Ûç¼Ñà)@$€ *persons mobile number* l*ÿ" Now from this i can see the number, but theres noway for me to know who's number it is.
Is there anyways i can open the .cdb file and view it in normal text? Thanks

The only thing I can think of is the UIQ emulator - check out
www.Symbian.com
I used the equivalent extensively on my old Psion 5 for this exact purpose but have never bothered to do this for my P910.
Maybe others can advise how this works ...

I'm sure there used to be a program called backup manager or backup extractor. Something similar anyhow, but I can't seen to find it on google!

you probably mean
backup inspector and if so, the original poster already mentioned in his first post that he tried that
don't think I have heard of any others like that?

Hmm I was thinking... as I have my p910i contacnts.cdb, could i make a backup of my k750i, and replace its contacts.cdb with my p910's contacts.cdb?
Or does the p910 store contacts differently than the k750?
Might give this a try, if it's possible.

Halo guys,
A good tip for the future is, make an backup of your phonebook whit Contact manager from agora, it is fast easy and in cvs and can beam it to PC or other phone or PDA so you can set it read in on your PC set it back on your phone even from SE to Nokia or visa versa.
I know it whil not solf the problem for the poeple how already lost there phone but for the future so you don´t have the same problem again.
Good luck to everybody
