Debranding is when you flash a fone to get rid of all network branding such as start-up logos pics etc and make the software like that of a sim free phone

operators get different FW for their phone's that includes network specific logos, features, etc. Mfg. know which IMEI numbers and CDA numbers are sold to operators. Unbranding is loading a different/generic/unbranded version of the FW on the phone that includes a different CDA number. This CDA number can identify a branded und unbranded phone.
