You touch the part of the screen that you want to select using the stylus (pen like stick) or your finger (quite a clumsy way of doing it) and the phone selects it for you. You can also use it to hand write words on the screen which the phone then translates into computer phone) letters on the screen.

You can execute almost all the commands by touching the screen with the help of the stick. It reduces the mechanical wear of the phone. This message was posted from a WAP device

I know how to use touch screen, I have a p910i, I really want to know how does it work.

reduce mechanical wear but the screen has a limit, coz some computer touch screen has a life span of 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 tap.
But Im not sure with the p9 screen.

There's three basic touch screen systems at the moment, briefly explained here:

More detailed explainations are available if you google for them

I'm not sure which system the P series uses but It's going to be one of those, or at least a modified version of one of them.

So far who has proved its life span? Good maintenance should carry on the same and let us hope so. This message was posted from a WAP device

ive taken apart a p800 touch screen and althought it is differnt from a p900 or p910i it does use more aless the same technique, a p800 screen contains 3 layers, the top bit is a transparrent touch sensor the middle is the back light (this is why the screen seems far away on the p800, unlike the p900 and more modern phones where they have incorporated the backlight into the rear of the screen), the final and back layer is just a normal lcd display, im not really sure how the touch bit works, but ive always wondered...
