The format disk function can be found in the file manager module, available in your applications list.

This will remove ALL data and applications from your disk but will not restore anything at all, so I suspect that this isn't what you were after doing.

The CD contains a number of applications that come with the phone, to install them you have to firstly get your phone connected to the PC via the sync station, Bluetooth or IR and then run the CD. You can then browse to the applications that you wish to install and click on them to start the installation.

The built-in File Manager lets you format the memory stick only, and that's not what you need. The internal C: drive can only be formatted using the service menu. If you did not backup your data, then (of course) you can not restore it.

If you can't send sms, you need to contact your network provider and get them to send you (or tell you) the settings.

As Zol said, if you didn't back up your contacts first, they're gone for good I'm afraid. If you have your contacts stored in outlook, you could sync with the phone to restore them.

You should make a backup before doing so.
