in any purchase you make you have to consider what you want it for now since you have no way of guessing what will come in the future.
Its most unlikely for SE to stop using memory sticks though there was some talk a few months ago about SD cards
anyway, look at the new phones such as K750... none of our old accessories that connect to the bottom of the phone are compatible so they have become more or less useless now except for nostalgia or selling on ebay and thats exactly what you could do with no longer required memory sticks but at least you will have had the use of them until such time
