> Horizonatal display (mail) on P910i?
Bookmark topic
Hi all,
I am afraid the answer is a simple "no" but.... can the P910i be used in horizontal, landscape mode for email /reading writing?
I need "something" for Vodafone's Real Mail (push mail, powered by Visto) and the P910i is a suported device. I am sure to prefer this to any Windows-based PDA but my eyesight requires fonts much bigger than those used by default. I guess that SMan can help here, but with the increased font size the "vertical" orientation of the display is far from ideal.
I've seen the P910i using the landscape mode for pictures/multimedia purposes, but not for any text-oriented application.
Any idea/hint/help/discouragement?

I'm afraid it is a simple 'no'
UIQ 2.1 doestn't support landscape view.
Pics, videos and games etc can be viewed that way but that is all

OK, so I'd be stuck with vertical orientation...
This is a pity, as increasing font size to the extent I'd require, would allow very few words per line, making it more difficult to read.
Could someone post /send to me a screen caputre of an email at the maximum allowed size? (sorry for asking this, folks... but beleive it or not, it is impossible to find a place here that allows me to actually see the phone, they don't have demo units...

(
I know that SMAn would should allow going beyond that. Could you point to an exmaple, somewhere?
Thanks in advance!
(in case you could send a screenshot, my email is mussol at mac.com)

Mussol, I've replaced my P910 font by a TT font antialiased, that reduced my eye strain a lot while reading.
In SMan you can set the TTF font and the size. If you set it to a big size, then the display will display HUGE fonts.
Also, applications have a "Zoom" setting in the menu, where you can alternate between 3 font sizes (small, medium, large) with a tap on the screen whithout leaving the aplication!
To end, with SMan you can try "Arial Narrow" from Windows, that way more words will fil per line.
