I recently unlocked my P900 from the Orange network as the contract was due to be cancelled. This has now happened.

Last night decided to upgrade the software, so backed up the phone and sim card details prior to upgrading the software.

Since the upgrade took place - the P900 will only recognize the Orange sim card which is no longer active, and subsequently I am unable to use the phone.

Will I have to unlock the phone again before using alternative sim cards - or is there anything Orange can do even though my contract has ended?

Welcome to Esato!

Don't know about Orange, but since the P900 is like as if it was dead to SonyEricsson, the upgrade you did is probably the last you will make, so unlocking is not a bad option.
Another option is to upgrade to P905.

Hello, if you would like to visit http://www.se-nse.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9460#post9460

You will see how you can unlock your P900 for free using the DSS-25.

Have a nice day

I suppose the moral of this story is - keep the Orange SIM well away from the phone

Thanks for your replies guys.

As regards the Orange Sim - I didn't have any option but to put the sim card back in the phone when I did the upgrade. Had I known what was going to happen I would have left well alone. As it happens I have taken out a contract with Vodaphone with a free K750i so there is urgency regarding the P900.

As it happens the P900 is not affliated to any network and currently have an 02 and Vodaphone contract so will need to get the phone unlocked from Orange in order to use it.

Will have a go at the "gbrooks3" method and failing that will get it unlocked tomorrow.
