I need some inspiration -- I'm trying to copy all the contacts on my P910i (on the phone, not the SIM) to a T290i, so far without success.

The essential problem is that the T290i just doesn't want to recognise the contact format generated by the P910i, whether I send by SMS or MMS. (Yet the vice versa operation works fine.)

I could use the T290i's SIM card as a transfer "mule" I know, but then the problem is that the P910i doesn't have a "copy all contacts to SIM" function -- you can only copy individual contacts, which is not practical given the number I wish to transfer.

Of course, the T290i doesn't have IR or Bluetooth, which hampers the proceedings somewhat!

Any bright ideas anyone? TIA.

Its really annoying, I had this problem with my P900, I had to send each contact to the sim one by one. The only other way of doing it is to sync your contacts with outlook. Then download the sync station software for the T290i and sync up through outlook. This worked for me from the P900 to the K700i, havent used the T290i, but I cant imagine it not working.

Cheers,

Dan

Sorry mate,

Ive just checked the sony ericsson support site and I cant find the sync station download, This probably means that the T290i doesnt have this function, it must be too basic. Looks like you have to copy each contact one by one

One of the options for sending contacts is "Send This Folder" or Open the "Contacts Manager" and select all (or whichever ones you want to send) then send. So the P910 does have the functionality to send multiple contacts at once. The formats are email, MMS, IR or bluetooth.

I think your best option may be to set up email on your T290 and email them from one phone to the other. If the T290 is still having trouble opening that format, then I suggest syncing the P910 with outlook, then emailing the contacts from outlook to the T290.

@knightled:

Thanks for the response, but I'd already tried MMSing and e-mailing multiple contacts to the T290 (sending via IR or BT are not options because the T290 doesn't support either!). In the first case, the format wasn't recognised, in the second, the T290 doesn't download any attachments on e-mails (in this case, the .vcf file sent from the P910).

If I can establish a cable link to my PC, I might be in business -- but all the indicators are there to suggest the T290 has no support for that either!

seems like the T290 might be a little to basic for its own good when it comes to handling contacts. Looks like you might need to use your SIM as a "mule"

Use the t200 drivers and it will work fine on t290 and then, send contacts to t290 via a pc. This message was posted from a K500

You're not wrong there! In my defence, I only bought it as a backup phone (cheap, off eBay), never intending to use it full-time.

Yes -- laborious as the copying process will be

Unless, as govigov suggests, I can locate and get the T200 driver(s) to work on my pc.
