> connecting to p910 via sp2 bluetooth
Bookmark topic
Hi i have a usb bluetooth ehich came with the xtndconnect software, however i have now upgraded to winxp sp2 and am using the built in drivers as xtndconnect is not stable under winxp, but i cant connect to my phone. When the drivers where installed it connected automatically but now when i select "connect to a bluetooth phone" and click on my phone in the dialog i get a box saying "Failed to connect to P910i - The requested address is not valid in its context"
Anyone know whats cauing this and how ot fix it?
If i try and connect by de-selecting and reselecting the serial ports in link properties it seems to communicate with the phone for a while but nothing happens.
using the latest SE software (3.1.1)
cheers,
Aled.

The problem is usually caused by the SP2 BT drivers themselves. The first thing to try is to see if you can download a set of of drivers or a patch for your BT dongle from the manufacturer / distributers website and install those instead.
Apparantly, M$ are aware of the problems with their SP2 BT drivers, it's not just SE phones that have difficulties, and will address it in future critical updates, but whether or not they will remains to be seen

well, the drivers for my device (xtndconnect) are "not tested" on winxp, and are unstable, thats why i was hoping to use the sp2 drivers instead as i know lots of people have them working fine.

please don't think that just because your drivers are not digitally signed means that they are unstable. this is plain Microsoft BS. it only means that they have not been tested (yet) for compatibility with Windows. Try them and only uninstall them if they're really unstable (which I seriously doubt).

they are unstable, thats why i said they where.
even the drivers own docs make a point of saying so.
Anybody here have any idea why the sp2 drivers arent working? i was under the impression they worked fine for most people now.
