when you buy a new cell phone, it has some pictures and sounds on it, when u buy a PDA, it had some pictures and sounds, most likley this is just something like that. it lets you hear how good it is before u put all your stuff on it or something. was it sealed?

The box it came in wasn't sealed with anything, no plastic wrapping, no seal with the company logo or anything, howver each individual component i.e. the headphones, remote control was placed in a plastic bag and taped shut.

oh really? in that case i would probobly contact them and ask them about it. that doesnt sound right to me. if the mp3 player works fine, u could keep it, but you may never know if its brand new unless u contact them. thats what i would do.

dixons are known for selling returned goods, i brought a pc from pc world (Same company) a few years back and cus they didnt have the monitor instock at the time they were expecting delivery later that week, so i took the rest of the pc except the monitor, so when we got the call saying they have the monitor they gave us a open one which was clearly used for at least 6-8 months and was completly dirty, we took it back and they gave us a 17" TFT instead.

i know that some mp3 players come installed with 1 or 2 sample tracks (1 minute or so in length). But if it was not sealed i would take it back

There are 11 songs on there which seems a little excessive for a company to preinstall on a MP3 player, however they are from bands that I have never heard of.
