> Polyphonic ringtones in T68i a sw issue?
Bookmark topic
So given the software updates we see lately for the T68i, would it be normal to assume that they come up with an update that supports polyphonic tunes or is it clearly a hardware issue? I know this falls into the "rumour" category (remember the 8bit / 12 bit colour issue someone suggested R2F supported?), but in any case I'd like to hear your views.

Polyphonic ringtones use many sound channels concurrently (such as 8, 16 or 24 - depending on the make and model of phone). Normal phones use one sound channel for ringtones.
If you want polyphonic multiple channels, you will need a hardware upgrade.

unfortunately, polyphonic capabilities is a hardware issue. The tone generator MUST be capable of mulitple tones. So, this would not be possible via SW upgrade.

Normal Rtone = Single Tone generator
Polyphonic Rtone = External speaker
