I read on
www.freedominput.com that SE have pulled out of the pda market. Does anyone know if that's true or not?
No P1000? No SE smartphone? Surely not.
Someone please tell me they know for sure what's going on...

It says they have withdrawn from the PDA market, not the smartphone market.
P1000 is not a PDA, its a smartphone

Actually, I understand that fine point. But to my knowledge, SonyEricsson's only pda's are phones.....?
Correct me if I'm wrong. If SE have no stand alone pda, then it would be nonsense for someone to say SE are pulling out of the pda market, and not mean the smartphone market.
Since I think it's generally agreed, that a smartphone is a PDA device, I am still curious as to just what the hell freedominput are going on about.
Thanks whizzkid

Let's hope someones misquoted them.
Didn't Sony give up on PDA's ages ago?
I can't imagine SE giving up on the PXXX smartphone.

A smartphone is not a PDA
Its a phone with PDA functions
This may be considered nitpicking, but there are fine differences between the categories, and a P910 are not a PDA, its a smartphone.
I agree it seems like a stupid statement from freedominput, what I think they mean is just that S//E gave up on the PDA market to begin with and concentrated on their smartphones instead.

@numb, I certainly agree, and I never said a smartphone and a pda are the same thing.
However PDA functions (including the factor of having an os that developers can create software for) are an integral part of what a smartphone is. A smartphone is a phone with a pda built in, or is my read of the last ten years of mobile phone and pda convergence completely wrong?
Certainly a pda is not necessarily a smartphone, but I would sorta think we could take that for granted...

Er...off topic. What can a pda do which a latest smartphone can't? I guess almost all pda features have been successfully implemented in smartphones or rather pda phones..do correct if wrong..
