> steven gerrard - leaving liverpool
Bookmark topic
it is a somber day here on merseyside
i am absolutely gutted stevie g has decided to leave
i thought winning the champions league may have made him realise we are heading in the right direction to challenge for the premiership next season
he is a big loss to the club
but i wish him all the best wherever he decides to go (unless it is chelsea)
somehow i doubt he will have the nerve to join chelsea but who knows

Well from what i have read on different forums the fans have turned their back on him, many of them are angry after what he sais after the game, when he said "how can i leave after a night like this?"
I feel he thinks he is bigger than the club now, they offered him 100 grand a week, i mean how much money do you want, liverpool are heading in the right direction now aswell.
This will turn into another owen situation where he will be on the bench and wont win anything.
I feel quite bitter at the moment after his comments, and if he does go to chelsea another rooney situation will occur where everybody hates him.
Check here for the fans reaction

i know what you mean
to be fair to him i dont think it was about money he has enough anyway
i think he felt he just couldnt win the premiership with liverpool
he is a big loss
but at the end of the day it is his decision
i will be angry if he goes to chelsea
anyway else and i will be like fair enough have a nice life and career but i will be mortified if chelsea sign him

Also most of this info has come from his agent, he is passing statements on through him, he is hiding.
I have just been on to the message boards on the l'pool website not one fan that i can see wishing him well.
What happened in these 5-6 weeks he spoke of? He said yesterday that the clubs offer was unacceptable that they didnt up his wages yet today they offer him 40 grand more than he earns now a week and he still turns it down.
He has no loyalty, and i back the views that he is a greedy liar, as do so many other fans.
EDIT: AND what was this that he said he was being pushed out by the club today Rick Parry said they did everything they could to keep him.

i dont think he ll be that big a loss i would be happy as a liverpool fan(though im not a fan nor anti liverpool) just take 35 million for a player who is very good but is still along way off been a world class player.
liverpool would do well to take the money go and buy a quality left back and another decent central defender then look to buy barja from valencia who can do everything gerrad can do and only costs around £5million
as for rick parry i wouldnt trust him as far as icould throw him, he has enjoyed poaching many a player in his time using his fa connections to find out release clauses etc in players contracts
