EastCoastStar is right and I think the main reason for this is the difference in frequencies and a large scale CDMA network in the US.

I think the reason SE is not hot in the US is that it's not as mainstream as Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung. SE has not made many phones that are "mass-selling" and/or "freebees".
Among the people I know, SE is VERY HOT but that's because they are more into phones than the general public.
I think SE is trying to get hot by launching the Walkman phones. Hopefully, they'll get picked up by the providers and sold as a reasonable price.

There just aren't all that many SE's available here at the moment. Most people have never heard of purchasing a phone from anyone other than their service provider here in the US, so anything that isn't being sold by them might as well not exist.
Everyone I know that has gotten their hands on an SE phone fell in love though. I recently got two of my friends to switch to T230's and even they were impressed. So SE is picking up speed here in the US.

yes, they are picking up speed for sure. the earlier comments are absolutely correct: if the carriers don't carry it, the phone might as well not exist to the general public. but SE is picking up with the contract they have with cingular. if they could only do the same with t-mobile, then they'd have the US GSM market covered.
