I was always told to drain my battery completely before recharging. Is this still necessary with modern batteries, T610/k700i?

Its enough to rain the batt every 2nd month, no need to do it every single time.

I heard that you should drain the battery all the way down and fully charge it (it resets the smart built-in circuit); that will prolonge the life of the battery... there is a detailed discussion about lithium-ion battery technology in this forum! check it out...

Li ion and li pol batts dont like to be discharged very often. However, the batt performance depends on fw aswell, u should charge the batt always the same way, to get the best out of it.
