This has probably been posted before (esato search is useless IMO), but has anyone got a link or tutorial to P900 housing removal and screen replacement ?

A friend recently dropped his P900, cracked the screen and has asked me to repair it (since ive done the same with my old T610 before), but i dont know how to dismantle the P900.

Any links to threads on this forum or another much appreciated.

I haven't got a tutorial but I have replaced a P900 screen before.

the best tip I can offer is make sure you unplug everything from the motherboard - like the jog dial, the ribbon to that is very fragile!

And you need a T7 screwdriver as well as a T6 one

haven't done it on a P900, but this question keeps coming up.

I wrote a tutorial for P910 which is largely the same except for maybe different screw types and a small piece here or there.

OK, ive run into a new problem.

I bought a brand new P900 screen, and when it was delivered all seemed fine. I stripped the phone down, unplugged the old screen and plugged the new one in.

So far so good, i put the phone back together and switched it on. The screen worked and looked normal. Except for one thing..

The touchscreen does not work. No matter how hard i tap the screen the phone does not register the taps / touch. Ive reinstalled the old (cracked) screen and it still works perfect except for the large crack.

So, do you think the new screen is faulty ? since the old screen works touchscreen and all, and the new one does not, anyone reckon i've been sold a dud ?

Have you attempted to calibrate it?

It does sound at first glance as if you've been sold a dud.

No, we didnt try calibrating it, but surely the touch function should work straight from the box ?

sorry to here about your continued trouble with the screen. If you are positive you have made all the proper connections and have tried the new screen several times then I think you have a faulty screen on your hands.

I know as a fact that the LCD and the touch sensors are different layers on the screen, so it is possible for one to work and the other not. Your two screens are perfect proof of this, LCD works on one while the touch doesn't and the other the touch works but the LCD is broken.

I trust your ability to assemble the phone correctly, so I would contact your seller about a replacement.
