Hi, Is it possible to recieve Email by push to my phone?? I mean so when someone sends me an email i get a notification right away?

I'm currently on o2payg and using k700i (with k700c software) and i've spent hours reading and searching on here for email settings etc... I've currently managed to setup my o2 email address ???@o2.co.uk which i can send and recieve via the o2 wap site. I've downloaded the settings from sonyericsson.co.uk for pop3 email recovery, and tried to manually configure it through various posts on this site, but neither works just says "finding server" then imediatly "connection failed" (i'm wodering if it's my sim needs activating or something??

Anyway my basic question is at the beginning of post... i've lost interest in phones for a couple of years now i'm hoping this email is possible these days, it's not much use to me having to check it myself for new mail...

Ok thanks a LOT for any info on this,

Regards

Richard

ok...
1 there is no 'push' email on the k700, only available with blackberry phones or smartphones ie p9*** etc and then only with network support (there is a recent post on this atm)
2 as u r pay n go you can not use gprs to download email due to cookie support i think but dial up works (£5 for about 500mins a month i think)
oh i just thought gprs will work with these settings
in 'incoming mail server' change mail.o2.co.uk TO 193.113.160.013
then you wont get the failed msg.
btw you will be charged for this even if you have your 'free' o2 proxy settings therefore its cheaper on dial up
good luck!

Ps you can change your 'check interval' in your email settings so when u have it up and running it will check for mail automaticly at your given interval

Thaks a lot for the info...
Basically you're right i can't use GPRS for email on PAYG, it just won't work. I can just configure a dial-up wap service to retrieve email for now.

Ok so basically this i smaking me think it's time to think about reluctantly going back to contract! Time to start reading posts on new phones/contracts etc!
