I must say that the sony ericsson engineers dont give a damn for ergonomics in their design. The joystick sucks in most models. Its way too bad

You must be that sort of a person who've been hit with a nokia brick (7560 or something I don't remember the models), or your phone must be a fake, not a SE j200 or your joystick is broken-
Almost every (99.99% except bugger like you) SE user adores the design of SE joysticks specially the 5 button function which most of other phones doesn't get it smooth as SE.
