I've successfully setup my T68 as an IR modem on my laptop (running w2k) and happily use it most nights on the train home , but I only ever get speads of 9600 - I assume its using GSM.

How do I set my phone / laptop up to dial out using GPRS? I've hunted round docs and here and can't really find anything

Also what speed should I get from my T68 through Vodafone on a standard GPRS tarif via IR?

Cheers

If the connection speed only at 9.6k, i assume your connection is CSD (GSM data) not GPRS.

GPRS technology until this moment, the connection can reach until at least 28.8k to 48k.

For setup GPRS,
1. You have to set an account at DATA Comm menu
2. You have to create your WAP profile
This setting depent on what operator you are using.

For pc dial-up connection using t68/i as an modem via irda,
1. You have to set dial-up account, and choose your phone as modem.
2. The dial-up phone number should be *99***x#
3. For user name and password (same as the GPRS setup)

Hope this help.

arus, thanks for that it worked first time, I now get a connection at 115.2Kbps well according to W2K anyway. However I do not seem to have a DNS server setso I can't get to any sites. In my GPRS account setting its just set to ....

Should the DNS server be automatically set, or do I have to set it manually? If I do does anybody know what the DNS server is for Vodafone UK, or can I use any?

Thanks

Dunno if it should be set or not for Vodafone, UK

I just leave blank for DNS server (using IM-3, Indonesia).

TO arus: 28.8k to 48k are not standard speeds! I know that for one channel there are such standards now used as:
CS-1 9,05 kbps
CS-2 13,4 kbps
CS-3 15,6 kbps
CS-4 21,4 kbps.
So if you can calculate then MAX speed with GPRS (in future ) is CS-4 21,4k*8channels (i think 8 was max channel number).
